Jan writes military sci-fi and space opera and happily lists David Weber as an inspiration for his own writing. His first novel, Pokračování diplomacie (Continuation of Diplomacy) was published in 2009. Since then, Jan has published four additional novels and more are on the way. His novel Tristanská občanská válka (Tristan Civil War, 2011) received an Aeronautilus Award for book of the year. In 2012, he received an Encouragement Award from the European Science Fiction and Fantasy Association, which is given to promising newcomers. Jan is currently translating several of his works into English
